Dhallywood actress Apu Biswas has recounted a harrowing near-miss in Nepal, where her entire film crew escaped catastrophic flash flooding by a mere day's difference in their travel schedule.

Speaking to reporters upon returning to Dhaka on Friday, Biswas revealed that the disaster had struck a mountainous stretch roughly two to three hours from Kathmandu on 26 August, a route her unit, then shooting the film Shikar, had coincidentally been scheduled to traverse just a day later. Describing the ordeal as an act of divine providence, she noted that the very road they had been due to use was subsequently closed to traffic for 15 to 20 days owing to the severity of the destruction. Judging it inappropriate to continue filming amid the unfolding human tragedy, she consulted her team and unanimously opted to suspend the shoot, ensuring everyone returned home safely.

The production, which also stars Kolkata actor Kharaj Mukherjee, had been underway in Nepal for some time; fans grew anxious for the cast and crew's safety after news of the floods broke, prompting Mukherjee to confirm from Kolkata that all involved were unharmed before Biswas offered her own account upon arriving in Dhaka.
