Government will introduce music, drama, dance, and fine arts into the primary school curriculum as part of efforts to promote students' creativity and holistic development, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said on Wednesday.

The government plans to launch a new textbook titled "Arts and Culture" for fourth-grade students from 2027, featuring modules on fine arts and crafts, music, dance and drama, according to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

Speaking at a discussion at the ministry, Bobby Hajjaj said the initiative aims to help students develop as global citizens while strengthening their creative and life skills.

The ministry plans to fully integrate these subjects into the primary education curriculum by 2028 under a revised education framework.

Officials said the move could create demand for specialised teachers and instructors, with an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 jobs expected over the next five years. The government is also discussing with universities ways to incorporate teacher-training components into relevant degree programmes to prepare graduates for these roles.
