Ziaur Rahman's Memories of the Liberation War will be incorporated into Bangladesh's Class 9–10 Bangla Literature textbook for the 2027 academic year, accompanied by a rare photograph of his wartime diary, following approval by the National Curriculum Coordination Committee (NCCC) at a meeting held on August 24, according to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
According to NCTB officials, the memoir will feature as prose text No. 22, with Ziaur Rahman characterised as a freedom fighter, former president and army chief, Z Force commander, Sector 1 commander, and recipient of the Bir Uttam gallantry award. Moreover, the accompanying introductory note frames the Liberation War as a nationwide struggle rather than the singular achievement of any one individual or political faction -- a framing evidently intended to broaden students' historical perspective.
NCTB Chairman Professor Mohammad Fakhrul Mowla said the decision was aimed at portraying the contributions of all those involved in the Liberation War impartially. The inclusion, he indicated, forms part of a wider endeavour to present the war's history in a more balanced and comprehensive manner.

National Professor Dr Mahbub Ullah and Dhaka University professor Shah Shamim Ahmed likewise welcomed the move, asserting that the memoir possesses considerable historical value. Consequently, they argued, its inclusion could enable students to acquire a substantially broader and more nuanced understanding of the country's Liberation War.
