The Ministry of Education has finalised the examination schedule for the 2027 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, with theoretical papers set to commence on 14 March and conclude on 15 April next year.

The decision was reached at a meeting held at the Ministry of Education on Monday afternoon, and was subsequently confirmed to the media by Professor Syed Aktaruzzaman, President of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board. The revised timetable supersedes an earlier plan under which the SSC and equivalent examinations had been slated to begin nationwide on 7 January.

Prior to the disruptions wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic, SSC and equivalent examinations had traditionally been held in February, with HSC and equivalent examinations following in April--a sequence that was subsequently interrupted. In a notice issued on 25 March, the Ministry of Education indicated that it was preparing a raft of reform measures, including an assessment of the feasibility of completing both the SSC and HSC examinations by 31 December each year, with the stated aim of conserving valuable time in the academic lives of secondary and higher-secondary students.
