Prime Minister’s Political and Industry Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has warned that no one will be spared for abusing power or engaging in irregularities in the name of the party.

Speaking at a press briefing at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Wednesday, Rizvi strongly criticised any attempt at “push-in” or forced illegal infiltration along the border, calling it contrary to good neighbourly relations. He said such activities have raised public concerns over possible “hidden agendas” behind the incidents.

Referring to Eid-ul-Azha preparations, Rizvi said the government has instructed authorities to remove unauthorized cattle markets set up on roads and public spaces to prevent public suffering and traffic congestion. He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in extortion, corruption or disorder in cattle markets or the leather trade by misusing political influence.

Rizvi also commented on the deaths of six infants at Ad-Din Medical College Hospital in the capital’s Moghbazar area, describing the incident as tragic. He said the government has already formed an investigation committee and assured that legal action would be taken if negligence or technical failures are found.

Highlighting the situation in the garment sector ahead of Eid, Rizvi said around 95 percent of garment factories have already paid workers’ salaries and bonuses due to close government monitoring and cooperation. He added that the government would continue reforms aimed at ensuring accountability and easing public suffering.
