Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has ruled out forming a separate joint force or launching a special nationwide operation, insisting instead that existing law enforcement agencies will intensify coordinated efforts to curb terrorism, extortion and drug-related crimes, and pledging that December, the month of victory, will not be permitted to degenerate into disorder.

Speaking at an event, the minister dismissed speculation about possible instability in December, asserting that the month would not be allowed to become a period of unrest. Furthermore, he noted that the police, Border Guard Bangladesh, the Rapid Action Battalion and Ansar, among other agencies, already carry out coordinated operations on a regular basis, and that such initiatives would be reinforced. Moreover, he warned that officers found negligent in their duties or complicit in criminal activity would face departmental measures as well as criminal proceedings wherever specific allegations were substantiated.

Turning to institutional development, Salahuddin highlighted plans for a modern Ansar headquarters in Tejgaon, after the Public Works Ministry allocated 3.45 acres of land for the project. In addition, further accommodation and facilities are being developed in Ashulia and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Meanwhile, he pointed to recent changes in Dhaka's traffic management, attributing the improvements to concerted efforts by the city corporations, police and the Roads and Highways Department, supplemented by automated systems and artificial intelligence.

Nevertheless, the minister acknowledged that commuter disruption persists, and he accordingly instructed the authorities to carry out road excavation and construction in sections rather than leaving entire roads obstructed simultaneously. Under this approach, each completed section would be restored promptly before work begins elsewhere, thereby minimising inconvenience and facilitating smoother movement for commuters.
