There is no rush to arrange Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's proposed visit to India, and the trip will take place when conditions are favourable and convenient for both sides, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi said on Tuesday, following a courtesy meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka.

Trivedi said India's invitation to Tarique for a bilateral visit remains open, although no specific timeframe has been set, with both sides expected to finalise the schedule based on the availability of the two prime ministers and a conducive environment. Kabir, meanwhile, said the government would not comment on speculation about a possible November visit, stressing that diplomatic decisions are based on concrete discussions rather than rumours.

The meeting also covered bilateral, regional and international issues, with both sides emphasising the need to advance relations through mutual respect, dialogue and cooperation. Bangladesh has previously indicated that a separate bilateral visit by Tarique remains possible should a favourable environment emerge, after it had earlier decided not to attend the BRICS summit in New Delhi.
