Five more children died of measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, with a further 1,077 children falling ill with measles or measles symptoms, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its latest update on Tuesday.

The bulletin clarified that while five child deaths were recorded with measles symptoms over the 24-hour period, none was confirmed to be directly attributable to measles itself. This brings the cumulative toll since 15 March to 844 deaths involving measles symptoms and 99 confirmed measles deaths, for a combined total of 943 child fatalities linked to the outbreak.
