Nine more people have died of dengue across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking this year's death toll to 271, while 1,902 patients were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The figures were disclosed in an update issued on Monday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room. Among the newly hospitalised patients, Chattogram Division recorded 272 admissions and Barishal 216, while 401 came from areas outside Dhaka's city corporations. Moreover, Dhaka North City Corporation accounted for 206 patients and Dhaka South City Corporation for 223. Meanwhile, 206 patients were admitted in Khulna, 98 in Mymensingh, 105 in Rajshahi, 66 in Rangpur and nine in Sylhet.

Consequently, the number of dengue patients hospitalised nationwide this year has climbed to 88,360, of whom 83,335 have recovered and been discharged. The mounting toll of 271 deaths underscores the continuing severity of the outbreak. By comparison, Bangladesh recorded 413 dengue-related deaths among 102,861 hospitalised patients in 2025, while 575 people died after 101,214 hospitalisations in 2024.
