Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will leave Dhaka for New York on Monday (September 21) to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and is scheduled to address the assembly on September 24. The visit has been curtailed, with the prime minister expected to depart New York for Dhaka on the night of September 25, according to Foreign Ministry officials.
The original plan envisaged Tarique Rahman remaining in the United States until September 29, including a possible visit to San Francisco. The revised itinerary, however, will concentrate on his engagements in New York, where he is expected to attend several high-level UN meetings, Bangladesh-hosted events and bilateral discussions with foreign leaders. The agenda encompasses meetings on development, pandemic preparedness, rising sea levels and nuclear disarmament, while Bangladesh will also host discussions on the Rohingya crisis.
