PM reaffirms family cards for 41 lakh families

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has reaffirmed that 41 lakh families will be brought under the Family Card programme by the end of this year, while stressing unequivocally that state resources must never be exploited or misappropriated for personal gain.

Speaking at a programme held at the BNP chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Friday, the prime minister distributed financial assistance to 38 mosques and temples within his Dhaka-17 constituency. The government provided Tk 2.47 lakh to each of 28 mosques and Tk 3 lakh to each of 10 temples ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja. Tarique further noted that the ongoing energy crisis constituted a global challenge that had likewise afflicted Bangladesh, adding that the government was actively working to remedy the situation and intensifying efforts to explore 130 new gas wells nationwide.

Moreover, the prime minister roundly condemned illegal activities within the energy sector and urged citizens, irrespective of political affiliation, to work collectively towards the nation's advancement. He cautioned that those implicated in unlawful practices must confront robust social and legal resistance. Tarique also pledged that, unlike in years past, no individual or group would be permitted to exploit state resources for personal or partisan ends, underscoring that the government would adopt an uncompromising stance against such abuses of power.
