PM Tarique makes first courtesy call on President Fakhrul

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday paid his first courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban since the latter assumed office.

The Prime Minister arrived at Bangabhaban around 3 pm, where the President received him and introduced his military secretary, secretary, press secretary, and other senior officials. During the meeting, Tarique briefed the President on his recent visit to the United States, including his participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and meetings with heads of state and government, the UN secretary-general and senior representatives of international economic and development organisations.

President Fakhrul congratulated the Prime Minister on his UNGA address, describing it as visionary, resolute and forward-looking, and said the speech reflected Bangladesh's national interests and aspirations while clearly articulating the country's position on major global issues. He further expressed hope that the visit would strengthen Bangladesh's standing internationally and contribute to expanding bilateral and multilateral relations. They also discussed various matters of national and state interest, with senior officials from the President's Office and Prime Minister's Office in attendance.
