ECNEC approves 13 projects worth Tk15,823 crore

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 13 development projects involving a total estimated cost of Tk15,823.57 crore, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Of the total cost, Tk 10,118.33 crore will come from government funds, Tk 5,252.96 crore from project loans and Tk 382.28 crore from the implementing agencies' own resources. The approved package comprises eight new projects, three revised projects, and two involving extensions to their implementation periods. Key initiatives include an integrated response to TB, HIV/AIDS and malaria, the establishment of Patuakhali Medical College and Hospital, flood and river management in the Feni and Bamni river basins, erosion protection along the Meghna River, and the expansion of digital land management systems.

Other approved projects cover the widening and strengthening of major roads in Rangpur Division, rural infrastructure development in Madaripur, Shariatpur and Rajbari, the third-phase expansion of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, enhanced technical and technological capacity for RAB, land acquisition for a solar power plant in Sonagazi, and expansion of electricity networks across the three hill districts. The meeting was also informed, moreover, of 15 additional projects costing less than Tk50 crore each that had been separately approved by the planning minister.
