India has said it will take all necessary measures to protect its national interests following reports that Bangladesh is reviewing 101 agreements and memorandums of understanding signed with India during the Sheikh Hasina government. New Delhi, however, maintained that Dhaka has not formally communicated the matter through official channels.

Speaking at a regular media briefing in New Delhi on Friday, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India had seen media reports about the review but had received no official communication from Bangladesh. His remarks came after Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni said on September 11 that the government was reviewing all 101 agreements, with the outcome expected soon.

Meanwhile, Jaiswal said the Joint Rivers Commission mechanism remains in place for addressing water-related issues between the two countries, with technical-level meetings continuing. The 1996 Ganges Water Sharing Treaty is due to expire in December 2026. He also reiterated India's position that matters concerning the safety of minorities in Bangladesh fall under the responsibility of the Bangladesh government. On broader regional security issues, Jaiswal said New Delhi is closely monitoring developments that could affect India's national security and sovereignty.
