Online gaming platform Roblox is introducing several new features to support game developers, allowing them to publish their creations as standalone applications for mobile devices, computers, and various gaming consoles outside of the core Roblox app. The company announced these plans during its developers conference on Friday.
Roblox stated it will provide the necessary technology and services to run games as standalone apps, making it easier for developers to reach a broader audience.
By the end of this year, players may also be able to launch Roblox games directly through the Google Chrome browser without downloading a separate application, starting the game right from its information page. Roblox plans to expand this feature to other browsers in the future.
Games will support both online and offline modes, enabling single-player campaigns without requiring an internet connection.
Roblox is expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities with features like "Build," scene generators, and AI-driven character creation.

The "Build" feature, launched in July, allows users to create, test, and publish playable games using simple text prompts. Roblox reported that over 9,000 games have been published using this tool, with 71 percent of those creators being first-time users who had not previously used Roblox Studio.
A scene generator expected later this year will let developers create functional game environments using text prompts and sample images. Additionally, AI-generated characters will be introduced to assist in game testing.
