Apple is set to strengthen the security of its iPhone messaging system by introducing end-to-end encryption for RCS messages in the upcoming iOS 26.5 update.

The new feature will be integrated into the Messages app, allowing users to send and receive messages with enhanced privacy and protection, according to the company.

Apple said the feature will first be rolled out on a limited experimental basis for selected users and supported mobile carriers. The company will later expand availability and publish a list of compatible operators before the full release.

Tech analysts say the iOS 26.5 update may also introduce additional features, including a new “Pride Luminance” wallpaper with dynamic light effects and a “Suggested Places” feature in Apple Maps that recommends locations based on user activity and nearby popular spots.

Earlier, Apple introduced major design changes in iOS 26, including a “Liquid Glass” interface that enhances the visual experience on the lock and home screens across iPhone 11 to iPhone 17 models.

The upcoming update is expected to further enhance both security and user experience across Apple devices.
