Friend stabs schoolboy to death in Jashore

A ninth grader was stabbed to death by his friend after an argument over playing games on the mobile phone in Jashore Sadar upazila last night.

The deceased was identified as Rakib Hossain, 14, son of Hafizul Islam of Enayetpur village and a student of Hashimpur Secondary School.

Police and locals said Rakib and some of his friends were playing games on their mobile phones at the Eidgah ground at Enayetpur village around 10:00pm Sunday.

At one stage, one of the friends--Sohan–got into an argument with Rakib over the game. During the argument, 18-year-old Sohan took out a knife and stabbed Rakib in his stomach, police said.

Locals rushed Rakib to Jashore General Hospital where he was declared dead, he added.

Rakib died before he was brought to the hospital due to profuse bleeding, said Delwar Hossain Khan, a doctor of the hospital's emergency department.

Kotwali Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Tajul Islam confirmed the incident of the murder to our correspondent. A case has been filed in this regard.
