Mamata takes lead over BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is now leading over Suvendu Adhikari, her long-time trusted aide who recently joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in Nandigram after the 14-round vote counting in West Bengal Assembly elections.

Mamata is leading by 2,331 votes over Suvendu, Indian media Zee 24 said in the afternoon.

The Trinamool Congress is leading in over 200 seats, while the BJP is leading in 87 as at 12:52pm, according to reports.

The coalition of left parties, Congress and ISF was trailing at a distant third with just three seats.

The initial trends show BJP was set to return to power in Assam and the tiny southern state of Puducherry at the expense of Congress while the left parties are much ahead of its main rival Congress-led front in Kerala.
