The death toll in a fire at a multi-story building on Dilu road in the capital's Eskaton area has risen to four.

Jannatul Ferdousi, 38, succumbed to her injuries around 9:35 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Jannatul Ferdousi was the mother of four-year-old AKM Rushdi, who was killed on Thursday's fire. Jannatul sustained 95 percent inhalation burns from the devastating fire. 

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, the national coordinator at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of DMCH, confirmed the information. 

Jannatul’s husband Shahidul Kirmany Rony, 45, who sustained 43 percent inhalation burns from the fire, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.  

A devasting fire broke out at the garage of a multi-storied building at Dilu Road at around 4:30 am on Thursday. On information, eight units of the fire service and civil defence rushed in and doused the fire. Later, the firefighters recovered a body from a room on the ground floor and two other bodies from the second-floor stairs. Two of the deceased were burnt to death while one died of suffocation due to the smoke.
