Govt to form medical board for Khaleda: Minister - National
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan

Dhaka: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said a medical board would be formed to check up on Khaleda Zia after persuasion from several BNP leaders.

“The health condition of Khaleda Zia is regularly checked in jail. Even such, we will form a medical board to end the plea of BNP,” he said.

The minister was talking to reporters after meeting the BNP leaders.

In response to a query, the home minister said the medical board will be formed immediately but he did not mention any specific date to form the board.

A 10-member delegation of BNP led by its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called upon the home boss at his office and discussed Khaleda’s illness around 3:00pm.

The BNP delegation pleaded to move Khaleda Zia to United Hospital immediately.

“We requested the minister to take our leader to a specialised hospital. She (Khaleda) wants to be treated at the United Hospital; and we requested as such,” Fakhrul said after the meeting.

The home minister assured that he would take steps to this end after talking to secretary of the respective ministry, prison authority and other officials, Fakhrul said.
