No militant threats on this Eid: Asaduzzaman - National

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Thursday assured the Dhaka city dwellers that there are no major threats of militant attacks in the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Law enforcers have taken strict security measures keeping the past militant attacks including Sholakia Eid prayers in 2016 and other international terrorist incidents in mind,” he said.

The militants who are on bail are under special monitoring, he said, he added.

Multi-level security measures have been implemented, DMP Commissioner told reporters after inspecting the preparations of Eid prayers at National Eidgah.

There will be CCTV cameras, dog squads, bomb disposal units, SWAT and cops in plainclothes.

The males devotees will be allowed to bring prayer mats and umbrellas but females may also bring their hand bags to Eid prayer ground, he added.
