The deceased was identified as Miraz Mandal, 20, son of Hashmat Mandal of the village.

According to police and locals, Miraz used to work in a brickfield at Santhia upazila. He later worked somewhere in Dhaka and he returned on Eid vacation.

On Monday night around 3-4 people including Nabin Mandal, second in-command of Julhash Bahini, called him from his house. Later, they shot him and flee the spot. Miraz died on the spot.

Locals said Miraz was a member of Julhash Bahini; however, he was living a normal life after leaving the group which was why they might have killed him.
