Dhaka: The legend of Bengali song, singer of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and freedom fighter Mohammed Abdul Jabbar died on Wednesday morning at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University under treatment (Inna lillahe…).
He was 78.
BSMMU director Brigadier General Md Abdullah-Al-Harun confirmed.
Abdul Jabbar was suffering from Kidney disease, heart condition, and diabetes along with other old age complicacies.
He was admitted in the ICU of BSMMU on August 1, 2017.
Abdul Jabbar used to visit several camps in Kolkatta in India during the War of Independence to sing for the freedom fighters to encourage them. He also sang in Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.
‘Ore Neel Dariya amay de re de chhariya’, ‘Tumi ki dekhechho kovu jiboner porajoy,’ ‘Salam salam hajar salam’ and ‘Joy Bangla Banglar joy’ are some of his everlasting songs he sang.
