Dhaka: Awami League has submitted a four-point proposal including introduction of electronic voting in parliament elections to President Abdul Hamid.
The proposal were given during a meeting with the President at Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
A 19-member Awami League delegation led by its President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called on President Abdul Hamid for talks over the formation of the Election Commission (EC).
During the talks, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made a four-point proposal to the President. The four-point proposal was 1) The President will appoint the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Election Commissioners (ECs) as per Article 118 of the constitituion; 2) The President will appoint the persons as the CEC and ECs whoever will be deemed to him eligible for the posts; 3) In order to appoint the CEC and ECs, a proper law can be framed right now if possible, or an ordinance can be announced; and 4) Introduction of e-voting in the next parliamentary election for "ensuring voting rights of people."
