Honourarium of mayors, chairmen, councilors raised - National

Dhaka: The government has raised the monthly honorium of the people's representatives of city corporations, district councils, municipalities and union parishads.

Ministry of Finance informed about raising the honorium in a circular on Tuesday.

The circular states that the city corporation mayors and councillors, municipality mayors and councillors, district council chairmen and members, upazila chairmen and vice-chairmen, and union parishad chairmen and members will receive the increased amount of monthly honorium from July 1 next.

The monthly honorium of city corporation mayor and councillor have been raised to Tk 85,000 and Tk 35,000 respectively. Apart from the monthly honorium, they will receive other allownces as per the previous rules.

The circular says that 'A' category municipality mayor's monthly allowance has been raised to Tk 38,000 and councillor's Tk 8,000, 'B' category municipality mayor's allowance raised to Tk 28,000 and councillor's Tk 7,000 and 'C' category municipality mayor's allowance raised to Tk 24,000 and councillor Tk 6,000.

Besides, the monthly honorium of district council chairmen has been raised to Tk 54,000 and entertainment allowance to Tk 5,000, while the  monthly honorium of members has been raised to Tk 35,000.

Besidses, the monthly honorium of upazila chairmen has been raised to Tk 40,000 and vice-chairmen Tk 27,000. They will also receive other allownces as usual.

Union Parishad chairman's monthly allowance raised to Tk 8,000 (Tk 3,600 from the government and Tk 4,400 from the union parishad fund), member Tk 5,000 (Tk 2,375 from the government and Tk 2,625 from the union parishad fund).
