Myanmar’s BGP opens fire at BGB, 1 injured - National

Cox’sbazar: A group of Border Guard Police (BGP) personnel of Myanmar in a trawler fired bullets at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) inside Bangladeshi territorial water on Naf River at Teknaf in the district on Wednesday morning, injuring one. A BGB member went missing after the incident.

The injured has been identified as Biplop.

The incident happened on the Naf River near Jadimurha area under Wrila union of Teknaf upazila at around 5:00 am on June 17.

Teknaf-42 BGB commander Lt Col Abu Zar Al Zahid said a group of BGB personnel confronted a team of BGP in a BGP trawler while patrolling on Naf River. The BGP team was checking another trawler and BGB challenged them.

In response, the BGP personnel engaged into an altercation with BGB and at one stage they started shooting, injuring Biplob critically. He was rushed to Sadar hospital in the district.

BGB Cox’sbazar G-2 Major Aminul Islam told Newsbangladesh that BGP took away soldier Abdur Razzak when he fell into the river from the trawler. A flag meeting will be arranged over the issue.
